Why Us

WE LOVE IT HERE.

We think that you will, too!

A LITTLE BIT OF HISTORY

In the late 1700's Lamberton Allen built a log cabin on this property, just south of the present house. He was the first settler in Grand Isle and constructed the first road on the island in 1783. In 1790 he sold part of the property to Dr Simeon Clark, who built the present house with hand hewn timber and wooden pegged joints. Dr Clark was the paymaster for the US Army. In search of gold coins during the War of 1812, British soldiers invaded the property. They left with no gold, but a few geese for dinner. The historic barn was completely renovated in 2009 and is ideal for hosting couples looking for a charming facility. The sprawling grounds offer an opportunity for you and your loved ones to enjoy beautiful sunsets over the Adirondack Mountains of New York and historic Lake Champlain. The gorgeous, natural setting paired with the rustic but modern barn can provide you with several backdrops for photo opportunities.

MEET THE OWNERS

We had just begun the early stages of our wedding planning when we attended a charity jazz concert at the Ferry Watch Inn.  By the end of that evening, we were so taken with the beauty of the landscape and the incredible sunset over Lake Champlain that we decided we could not get married anywhere else.  We fell in love with the charming barn and the striking views in every direction.  As the  weeks and months prior to the wedding rolled on, we were also searching for the perfect home to begin our new life together.  Never for a minute had we considered the Ferry Watch Inn as an option, but things were about to change.  It was right up to the week before the wedding and we had all but given up hope on finding the right home.  That evening we received a phone call from “Mama Sally”, Marc’s mom, saying that she had just had a dream and that we should buy the Ferry Watch Inn. On our wedding day, we were so fortunate to be able to share the joy of our special day with all our friends and family, and also announce on the same day that we had found our new home: the Ferry Watch Inn!  It was a day none of us will ever forget!   We are still over joyed and in disbelief that we are able to call this amazing property our home, and the best part is being able to open it up to share with others.  With the lovely Lake Champlain shoreline, the historic barn, and the most beautiful sunsets on the planet, there is not a better setting for any event!  We welcome you anytime to come enjoy our little piece of heaven.

All the best,
Marc, Heather, and Sally Lamphier
